Speed, Accuracy, and Precision
This robust, high-mix machine provides stability and precision for all placements, even at high speeds, thanks to the following features:
- 30 µm, 3 Sigma placement accuracy
- Highly precise ball-screw X and Y drive
- Closed-loop servo control system on all axes
- Tough, unibody steel frame
- Three-head gantry
- Placement rates up to 10,500 parts per hour (IPC-9850)
Huge Component Range
- Dual-vision alignment combines Cognex® on-the-fly with bottom stationary systems for fast, efficient placement of 01005s through 100 x 150 mm SMDs.
- The machine conducts ball inspection and missing ball detection, with nonstandard ball patterns programmable and inspectable.
- A 23-position automatic toolholder/changer with 17 standard nozzles is included.
Feeder Capacity and Flexibility
The MC389 has a large placement area of up to 650 mm x 460 mm (25.6" x 18.1"), depending on the number of feeder bases and the board handling method used. It holds a maximum of two 48-port feeder racks, front and back, plus two 32-port feeder racks on the sides, for a total feeder capacity of 160 8-mm tape feeders. The feeder racks can accommodate a mix of tape feeders and IC tube/stick feeders, plus waffle trays and cut strip feeder holders can be used in placement area.
Suitable for any inline or work cell manufacturing environment; single-stage and 3-stage SMEMA-compatible inline conveyors optional.
Easy Programming and Operation
This machine utilizes UCAD® (universal CAD) import and conversion for direct transfer of PCB data from ASCII, AutoCAD, and Excel data formats. It also has a built-in teaching, fiducial-recognizing camera. Prior to running production, the Virtual PCB Simulator offers assembly preview for component, coordinates, and orientation verification. Feeder placement and set-up/changeover optimization is available with Smart Feeders for tape and IC tubes/sticks.
Additional Touches
- A computer controller with a flatscreen LCD display comes with the machine (keyboard and mouse included).
- An included vision inspection capability allows cameras to be used for selectively checking solder paste printing and/or component placement accuracy.
- The optional barcode reader scans component values, lot codes, dates, and component quantities directly from packaging for inventory management. *
- The optional offline Smart Feeder Programmer allows Smart Tape and Stick Feeders to be programmed offline while the machine runs other jobs.
*Two-dimensional barcodes on component reels cannot be interpreted by the software.
