RW1500: The Industry's Most Versatile Rework System

The RW1500 rework station is engineered for precise, damage-free removal, alignment, placement, and soldering of BGAs, CSPs, ultra-fine pitch QFPs, and other heat-sensitive, high-value SMDs. Designed to handle single-layer, multi-layer, high-density, and complex PCB assemblies, it ensures exceptional precision and reliability without compromising adjacent components.

Its versatile board holding system supports a wide range of PCB sizes, from as small as 0.24” x 0.24” (6mm x 6mm) to as large as 22.3" x 18.3" (565mm x 467mm), making it the ideal solution for diverse rework applications. Whether you're working with intricate microelectronics or large-scale circuit boards, the RW1500 delivers unmatched accuracy, repeatability, and ease of use—ensuring consistent, high-quality results in every rework process.

High-Definition, Split-Vision Optics for Unmatched Alignment Precision

Achieve exceptional accuracy and ease of alignment with the high-definition split-vision optics of our rework station. The 2 million pixel CCD camera delivers crisp, superimposed images of component leads and PCB pads at a zoom factor of up to 230x, ensuring precise alignment for everything from the smallest chip components to the largest fine-pitch QFPs and BGAs.

Equipped with two independently controlled lighting sources and a 15" HD display, the system provides optimal clarity and visibility during alignment. The joystick-controlled camera allows for seamless panning, while fine adjustments to zoom and focus are easily managed via the adjacent control panel.

For ultimate precision, micrometer adjustments enable X and Y axis fine-tuning of the PCB holder, while rotational controls on the main panel ensure perfect angular alignment of components. Whether working with high-density assemblies or complex layouts, this advanced optical system guarantees repeatable, high-quality results with every rework process.

Precision-Controlled Component Placement

The RW1500 rework station ensures that components are placed exactly where they were aligned, thanks to its high-precision, drift-free camera calibration. This advanced system delivers a positional and placement accuracy of ±0.01 mm, ensuring perfect alignment between the pick-up head’s raised Z-axis position and the final placement on the PCB.

Once alignment is set, the automated rework process takes over. The camera retracts automatically, and the leadscrew-driven servo drive carefully lowers the component onto the pads with controlled, precise movement. As soon as placement is complete, the soldering process begins, ensuring consistent and reliable results.

When soldering is finished, an audio alert signals completion, and the upper heater returns to its home position. From there, the final step is simply removing the assembled board, completing an effortless, highly accurate rework process every time.

Precision Air/N2 Flow & Advanced Heater Control

The RW1500 rework station delivers unmatched accuracy and reliability for even the smallest components, such as 0201 and 01005 chips, by utilizing independent pressure regulators and flow controllers for its top and bottom ceramic honeycomb heaters. With precise airflow control, component shifting is virtually eliminated, ensuring that even the tiniest chips are soldered exactly as placed.

The system features self-tuning PID temperature control, maintaining a ±3°C accuracy throughout the reflow process. Fully programmable thermal profiles allow for customized heating rates, target temperatures, dwell times, and cooling sequences across seven individual segments for both top and bottom heaters. This ensures compliance with solder paste manufacturer specifications, delivering consistent and repeatable results.

A large, multi-zone preheater further enhances control. With five independently activated zones, users can tailor preheating configurations to match specific job requirements, improving process efficiency while reducing energy costs—especially for smaller board rework.

Advanced Features for Precision Rework

The RW1500 rework station is equipped with advanced features designed to enhance precision, control, and efficiency.

A built-in process viewing camera provides side-angle views of the soldering and desoldering process, allowing operators to monitor reflow in real-time. Both the camera and lighting are adjustable, ensuring clear, close-up observation for improved quality control.

For mission-critical rework applications, an integrated nitrogen input helps prevent oxidation. Users can seamlessly switch between air and nitrogen through the RW1500’s intuitive software, offering greater flexibility for sensitive soldering tasks.

The system also includes four thermocouple inputs for real-time temperature monitoring, profile analysis, and fine-tuning, ensuring every rework cycle meets precise thermal requirements.
